Looking forward to seeing you on the lake!

We've been very fortunate that Matt Logan created a path around Big Bald Lake that is 4.75km long and a joy to walk on in most places.  A few fishermen have drilled holes into it making it slippery in places but generally it's a wonderful flat path to follow and get some fresh air and exercise.  Please do be careful when walking on the ice, please respect COVID19 protocol when passing people.  But do get out and explore the lake with us.  We see people ice fishing, creating skating rinks, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and of course walking the path.

This month we are inviting you to get off of the path and find items on a scavenger hunt.   Starting January 15th to February 15th please explore safely, without venturing on private property.  We have created a map (thanks John Boyce) of the locations you can find items on the  scavenger hunt . We  have  21 images posted on our website that  you need to correctly identify on the map.

Print the map, go for a walk to the marked areas and then complete the form on line (link below)  The first correct answer submitted wins a fabulous gift basket full of local treats including a 6 pack of beer from the Bobcaygeon Brewing Co. so you must be 19 years of age to enter.

We'll post a photo of the prize basket shortly.
One entry per household.
All correct entries will receive a beer plus some other fun treats!

As we can't gather for our annual Winter Carnival we still invite you to make chili that weekend or before.  Send us your Chili Photos and the best looking Chili (random draw) will win a frozen container of
Paul Flanagan's Award winning Chili.
Contest closes February 15th.

Beaver Dunk Contest
Our Big Bald Lake Beaver has moved out of Saunder's Bay and is now residing in front of Margaret and Tom's place in Byles Bay.  Therefore we predict the beaver will go swimming potentially earlier in this location.  What's your prediction?  Email us at info@bblca.ca to Win a $100.00 gift certificate for a local Buckhorn business of your choice.  Two people cannot choose the same date, so be sure to get your guess in soon. Please check our website for entries to date. Entries will be accepted until February 28th.

Heather Birnie correctly answered the Where's the Beaver Contest and was selected by a random draw. Heather has won a gift basket that is similar to the scavenger hunt main prize.
Join us at 8 pm on Saturday, January 30th for a moonlit walk on the lake. Moonrise is at 7:39 pm.

We'll meet and end on the lake in front of the boathouse at 37 Fire Route 85, home of John & Nancy Boyce.

Due to COVID-19, please wear a mask and stay within your bubble while walking. We won't be serving hot chocolate this year, but we do have individually wrapped cookies for participants after the walk.

Walk will be weather and ice conditions permitting. If the province wide lock down is extended past this date, then the walk will be cancelled. We are doing our best to present you with safe activities in accordance with government rules.
