Alabama Family Trust Fulfills a Special Need
Back in 1994, the Alabama Legislature set in place Alabama Family Trust as a tool to help improve disabled Alabamians’ lives and help their families’ have peace of mind. For over 26 years, Alabama Family Trust has administered trusts that supplement the care, support, and treatment of disabled beneficiaries in a way that complements governmental entitlement benefits. Currently, Alabama Family Trust administers some $30+ million of trust assets for beneficiaries.
Members of the Alabama Family Trust Board of Trustees are appointed by the Alabama government. The Board meets monthly, and members serve in a volunteer capacity. They genuinely care about the children and adults whose family members and friends entrust the Alabama Family Trust with managing their supplemental needs trust accounts.
The Alabama Family Trust staff is comprised of dedicated professionals who commit their time and energy to supporting the mission of Alabama Family Trust and the families it serves. The staff is available to help with everything from completing trust paperwork to receiving and processing trust fund disbursement requests. Representatives and families have often told the staff how invaluable their help has been in helping them maximize their disabled loved ones’ quality of life.

The Charitable Trust Fund is another great tool for beneficiaries. If an individual’s trust account with Alabama Family Trust is depleted, they can apply to have expenses paid through the Charitable Trust Fund. In addition, if a beneficiary wants to take advantage of Alabama Family Trust’s Case Management Assessment Program, Charitable Trust Funds will be used to pay for the initial assessment.
