Well, 2020 was quite the unexpected ride and we hope that a new year brings the start of many good things to you and Mizzou students!   Please read on for updates about spring semester collaborations, a virtual Open House  event, supervisor news and much more!

Spring Assignments and Presentations

If you are interested in having the MU Career Center provide a presentation for your class or would like your students to complete a career assignment, please complete an online request by clicking on the SUBMIT REQUEST FORM button located on our faculty/staff web page:
https://career.missouri.edu/services/faculty-staff/career-outreach/

We ask that you please give us at least two weeks’ notice for all requests and be as flexible as possible with your presentation and assignment due dates. We have converted all our presentations to the Zoom/online format and we're happy to discuss learning outcomes and now to best engage students.

And don't forget that instructors have access to downloadable career lesson plans, videos, and other teaching resources on the faculty and staff page of Mizzou Career Tools.

We are kicking off Involvement Week with a Virtual Open House on January 21st from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.. Join us in encouraging students to connect with the MU Career Center to learn more about our services. Our friendly staff of Career Specialists can assist with: resumes and cover letters, part-time job searches, summer internship options, interview prep, exploring majors/careers and much more!

Students can connect with us virtually on Zoom:

The Peace Corps
Peace Corps recruiter available for class and club talks.

The MU Career Center welcomes Trevor Harris back as the Peace Corps' campus strategic recruiter here at the University of Missouri. Trevor is now available for Peace Corps-focused class and club talks on campus and can tailor talks to course content.

Founded in 1961, the U.S. Peace Corps lets American citizens share their skills abroad in developing countries. For a period of two years, volunteers serve in Africa, Europe, South America or Asia in sectors like education, health, agriculture/environment and youth development. Most available positions require a college degree. Learn more about the Peace Corps online as well as how the agency is responding to the pandemic, which resulted in 8,000 volunteers globally being evacuated last March.

You can also learn more about the Peace Corps at an upcoming:

Peace Corps Zoom Information Session
Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. CST

Presented by Trevor Harris, MU campus strategic recruiter and
Krista Lupus, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and Truman School graduate student

Trevor is available to answer questions about the Peace Corps during his regular spring 2021 semester office hours, which are by appointment and on Zoom each Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and each Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Also reach Trevor by phone at (573) 884-2003.

The Career Center is excited to announce that later this month we will launch a new Live Chat option on our website! Live Chat is a great way for students, faculty and staff to quickly get their questions answered by a knowledgeable Career Specialist. The icon is located at the bottom right corner of a device screen and only appears if a staff member is available.

We are pleased to offer another way in which students can connect with our team. And don't forget that our staff is available by email, Zoom phone and video calls, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Please refer students to the Connect with Our Staff page for details.
