Dear Nefesh Community,
Sending each of you blessings of health and wellness and a strong drawing up of ometz lev, strength of heart. For those of you who are in LA County, please know that we are an epicenter for COVID now and it is important to make changes to stay safe. I know it is hard after the many months of this but this is the worst that it has been. Friends and colleagues working in hospitals keep sharing that the virus works differently in different bodies and that is important for everyone to avoid getting COVID for yourselves, for your family and loved ones, for the broader community, and to help those working in hospitals. COVID raises up the reality of how interconnected we are all. What you do impacts so many others.
Friday night we will gather for Shabbat to lift each other up, pray for healing, and welcome Shabbes goodness and soul breath.
Sunday is an afternoon filled with goodness.

- 4:30pm White Jewish Antiracist Continuing Dialogue
Sunday at 4:30pm is the first meeting of the White Jewish Antiracist Continuing Dialogue. Before that meeting at 3pm is the second meeting of the Queer Jewish Book Club. This time there is a film to watch before the group called “Trembling Before God.” It is a documentary about queer orthodox Jews. Joining in the discussion are Rabbi Steve Greenberg, who appears in the film, and the filmmaker Sandi Dubowski may also join.
Wednesday Jan 27th at 8pm. We are delighted to celebrate Tu B’shevat, the birthday of the trees, with a mystical Tu B’shevat Seder. The seder includes different kinds of fruits and wines or juices to explore deeper spiritual meanings and sensory deliciousness.
