How do we support our Summerfair mission?
Our annual Emerging Artists Exhibition goes virtual. As pictured below (images from 2020) there will be no visiting the Clifton Cultural Art Center (CCAC) to see the images and meet the artists. The CCAC was willing to host us but we felt it safer to do this online. Because we support what they do, we sent the funds budgeted for this event and a bit more to the center.
The 7 local universities have again sent their 3 best students to be a part of our event. The 21 students will be judged via their entry photos. The awards will be the same; Best of Show- $800, Second place- $550, Third place- $300 and the "Bollen Memorial Emerging Artist Scholarship" $250.
You will see all of the exceptional students' bio/statements and their images on the home page of our website starting January 21st. Watch our social media for the announcement.

Happy New Year! Hope this finds you healthy. It looks like we may be getting a handle on this pandemic so we can finally meet together sometime soon. We have begun preparations for Summerfair 2021. The artists are currently signing up on ZAPP. We’ve gotten 26 entries for our poster competition. Look for an email from Kelly in regards to our new process for this year

Calling all members!
Sadly, we are still in the midst of a global pandemic. As a precaution, we have canceled our annual Poster Vote meeting this year. However, we value your opinions and want to keep everyone involved in the process.
Since these are such unprecedented times, we have decided to do something unprecedented this year and email ballots to all members for online voting. Look in your mailboxes for an email from Kelly Boschert on January 17 th. If you are a member and don’t receive it, first look in your spam or quarantine folder. If you don’t find it there, contact Kelly and she will send it to you directly. The email will include images of the posters along with voting instructions. If you have questions about the voting process, reach out to Kelly. Her email is: kelly.boschert@gmail.com

From The VP of Awards
Even though we couldn't host our fair last year, we are fortunate that were are still able to distribute our awards.
The Small Arts Award application went live in December and will close February 8th. We will still need a jury of about 10 members as in the past. However, this year, we will hold the jury meeting virtually. We will aim for either Saturday, February 27, or Saturday, March 6, at Noon for our virtual jury discussion. Instructions and information will be e-mailed to the jury ahead of the jury meeting as in the past.

From The Managing Director
By the time January comes to a close we will have been dealing with cancellations and virtual events for 10 months! Here is hoping that a virtual Poster Winner in February and March virtual announcements of our Small Arts winners will bring this year to an end and then we'll be home free. A full 12 months of this situation is more than enough for me!
As of now we are full steam ahead for our 2021 Fair. Artists are applying every day. Those that were accepted for 2020 are automatically coming back after applying on Zapplication, which closes on February 7th. By January 20th we will have our centerpiece poster chosen, most media contracts (radio, bill boards and such) will be signed or well on the way to being completed. It's exciting to be planning for something as close to normal as we believe June 4-6 will be.
Thanks to all of you for keeping in touch and being patient with all these needed changes. Soon we'll be together, wrapping up plans for a very successful Fair.
