Updates from the Farm,

Midwinter 2021
New Beginnings

Lambs are being born, and daylight stretches noticeably longer. There is still plenty of winter left--water buckets continue to freeze, the ground is covered with a foot plus of snow, and it is snowing lightly as I write--but gradual change seems in the air.

Best wishes for the year ahead,
Carol & Bruce

With the new barn fully functional, the rams have had a dedicated space this winter. It has simplified our handling system, and they seem to enjoy it.

New lambs! They have been arriving steadily over the past few weeks, and will continue through March. (Thanks to Sonia for the photo.)

Critter Corner

Few critters are visible these days, but the snow provides wonderful opportunities for tracking and speculating about what they're up to.

Recipes & Ideas:

Thanks to Hillary for this photo! I tend to cook chops simply, with maybe some rosemary and garlic, but there are a number of recipes online for jerk lamb that look intriguing. Here is a video for making jerk lamb chops in the oven (though if you're in central Vermont you may have to improvise a bit with the spices!).

If you have an old stand-by lamb recipe, or something new you've discovered recently, please share!

Variety of Cuts Available
(& Continuing Pre-Orders for Whole or Half Lambs)

After selling out of stock this fall, we are resupplied with most cuts, and more will be available mid-February. If you are looking for something in particular for a recipe you've been meaning to try, let us know, and we might be able to special order. You can also still reserve a whole lamb ($9/lb, hanging weight) or a half lamb ($11/lb, hanging weight) for February; they will be approximately 40-45 lbs.

We were thrilled by the positive response to our woven rugs! We have one left (off-white, fringed ends); otherwise, we expect to have a new batch available in the fall.
