COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY
JOIN US FOR A FREE WELLNESS SERIES!
Due to the success of our previous wellness series that we held at the start of December, we are delighted again host and invite you to join us at the end of January for another series with Dr. Mark Lau from the Vancouver CBT Centre.

Two-part series over two sessions

Most of us are feeling exhausted from the difficult and stressful year that 2020 was and it is important to spend some time taking care of ourselves. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of self-therapy that teaches us skills and strategies to manage our thoughts and feelings. These sessions will focus on ways to protect your mental health and increase awareness for yourself and those around you.
 
The Consulate General of Ireland in Vancouver has kindly sponsored this initiative in order to support members of the Irish community here in British Columbia.

NEW GOVERNMENT RULES 
The Irish Government has announced that from Saturday, January 16, all passengers arriving into the State must have a negative or not detected COVID-19 PCR test, taken within 72 hours prior to arrival into Ireland.

Passengers may be asked to present evidence of their negative or not detected result before boarding their aircraft prior to departure, and will be required to produce this evidence to Immigration Officers upon arrival at Dublin Airport.

BRIGID'S FESTIVAL VANCOUVER
Jan 31 - Feb 7, 2021
St. Brigid’s Festival Vancouver is a week-long online event featuring academic, cultural and wellness sessions dedicated to celebrating the women of Ireland, through the medium of Ireland’s triple goddess and matron Saint; St. Brigid.

The expansive program of events will include a presentation from award-winning novelist, playwright and screenwriter Emma Donoghue. Women’s rights activist Ailbhe Smith, once listed in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and recently appointed as the Chair of Women's Aid Ireland, will also host a presentation on the impact COVID 19 has on women and Emer O'Toole, Associate Professor of Irish Performance Studies at Concordia University, Montreal will present on the topic “Irish Feminism: A Love Story”.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

CHRISTINE RYAN | REALTOR

Born and raised in Dublin, Christine was inducted into the world of bricks and mortar at a young age, her father was a bricklayer and later, property investor. These formative years led to an interest in the study of law and a career as a senior paralegal specializing in convenyancing.


Having met her Vancouver-Island raised husband in Dublin, the couple and their daughter, Elizabeth moved to the Island in 2014. Christine is a full-time, successful Realtor®  representing the inimitable Sotheby's brand.

Christine's legal background and negotiation experience speak to her sense of integrity and she believes that going the extra mile and actively listening to the needs of each client is paramount to providing successful service and building long-lasting working relationships.

With a strong sense of civic responsibility, Christine is a current director at Clements Centre Society, and current Chair of the Building, Captial Projects and Fundraising Committee at Clements and formerly active at the Greater Victoria  Labour Relations Association (bargaining Collective Agreements on behalf of Municipal employers).

Christine and her family live off-grid on the Malahat mountain with their two rescue dogs, Maeve and Roisin.

The 2021 edition of the annual Dublin Bowie Festival, a series of events commemorating the life and music of David Bowie held in Dublin each year, will be a virtual celebration that runs from January 10 to January 17.
X the Waves 
‘X the Waves’ (Cross the Waves) is a virtual musical event that features artists from the island of Ireland. This event is in support of the non-profit organization Co-operation Ireland whose mission is to sustain peace by helping to build a shared and cohesive society.

THE IRISH 
BENEVOLENT SOCIETY OF B.C.
In response to the Covid-19 crisis, this Food Voucher Program has been developed by The Irish Benevolent Society of BC. It has been designed to help those who may be struggling to provide themselves with basic food essentials. The initiative has been generously funded through the Consulate General of Ireland in Vancouver.

Applications are welcome and encouraged from all sectors of the Irish community within BC and can be made by completing the survey below. The program is being administered in a fair and equitable way. All of the information you provide is confidential and will only be shared as required to administer this program. You will be contacted to verify your information.
