Dear <<First Name>>,
As we begin a new year, which has not been free of new challenges, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the last 12 months. We learned how important our teams are; at adapting to challenges, providing support to others, and developing creative ways to scale new opportunities. Now more than ever, our teams and their health are our greatest asset. So without further ado, I would like to welcome you to the March 2021 Edition of Workplace Health Essentials - tailored to where you work - Kingston!

These resources are general in nature - but if you need additional help, our Health Promotion Team is available to support your businesses to tailor programs which strengthen employee wellbeing and engagement. We can meet with managers or teams (in-person and online) at any time (Mon-Fri) as part of our free and confidential service, funded through the State Government.
Take care and please don't hesitate to get in touch for more support or information

Physically active employees are less likely to suffer from major health problems. As a workplace you can build physical activity throughout work to help decrease stress, improve performance, productivity and the wellbeing of your whole team. Here are a few low-cost ways to get your workforce moving (DOWNLOAD FLYER HERE):

|
- Install height-adjustable/standing desks to promote standing. If you have a large workforce, hot desks could be made into standing desks.
- Encourage staff to step away from their desk to deliver messages in person
- Place bins and printers on the opposite side of the office/site to encourage more steps
- Use the BreakTimer app for 5-minute stretch/walk break reminders
- Eat lunch away from your desk - instead, go outside, go for a walk or do some stretches
- Include fewer chairs in meetings spaces to promoting standing or walking meetings
- Encourage staff to use active travel (i.e. bikes, walking) to work. If possible, provide facilities like showers, change rooms, and secure bike storage.
- Buy sports equipment for staff breaks. I.e. badminton, table tennis rackets, and balls (you can use any table to play), or tennis balls to play bocce
- Negotiate a corporate membership with local gyms or sporting clubs. CBCHS can also source out corporate rates on your behalf! Call 8587 0214
- Sign your workplace/team up to challenges. I.e. 10,000 steps or Premiers Active April. To spark some competition, offer incentives such as a team prize, or compete with other workplaces (i.e. the café next door)
- Host social clubs, team building days, or staff celebrations at a sports facility (i.e. lawn bowls, badminton, bowling, tennis)
