These important reminders are for all students living on campus and locally off campus, as well as for faculty and staff in preparation for Block 5 and Spring 2021. Students, please read the entirety of this message and respond to the three-question survey:

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope that you all had some peaceful and restful time over Winter Break. This is a special reminder to all students and faculty, particularly those students registered for, and those faculty teaching courses with any in-person elements in Block 5.

As outlined in the message from our co-presidents on preparing for Winter Break and Spring 2021, and move-in instructions, all students living on campus or locally off campus will be tested for the Coronavirus upon arrival to campus and re-tested after 10 days. They are required to adhere to enhanced social distancing protocols for 10 days and until their second negative COVID test results are received. This includes these additional risk mitigation protocols:
  • Reducing your interactions to your roommate(s) until you get your second negative test result.
  • Staying in your room unless you are picking up food on campus.
  • Not entering buildings on or off campus other than your residence or to pick up food on campus. Shop for and bring room needs with you, rather than shopping after arrival.
  • Exercising individually and safely outdoors while wearing a mask.
Once a student receives their second negative COVID test result on their 10th day after arrival, they may shift to our regular virus risk mitigation protocols, which will be implemented until further notice.

Students in Block 5 classes with in-person elements should plan to arrive by January 21 to complete arrival protocols before the beginning of Block 5. Students who arrive after January 21 may not attend class sessions with in-person components until they have completed the 10-day enhanced social distancing period and received their second negative test result. Students who are enrolled in an in-person or hybrid Block 5 class and are unable to arrive in time to complete arrival protocols should contact their advisors for help to re-arrange their schedules and sign up for a remote or flex class for Block 5.

Students, please fill in this short survey to confirm your move-in plans by January 15. Additionally, we will reach out to faculty members teaching classes with in-person elements to confirm that students have completed arrival protocols prior to the beginning of Block 5.

NOTE: Only students will be allowed into their assigned rooms during move-in; no guests or family members will be allowed inside. To reduce risk of COVID-19 spread, guests and family members may assist with curbside drop-off, but will not be allowed in campus buildings and should not linger on campus or take students for shared meals.

Please note that all students living on campus or locally off campus, regardless of whether or not they are accessing campus facilities, are required to continue participating in weekly testing throughout the academic year. Students, please check your CC email to receive invitations from Linda Petro for testing.

We recognize that these protocols may be inconvenient and impact the ability of students to attend the in-person components of their classes. However, our robust safety protocols and our adherence to these have helped to keep the number of cases among students, faculty, and staff low and have allowed us to invite more students to campus this semester. The success of this semester depends upon all of us doing our part to watch out for our own safety and that of our community by following all protocols.

We want to thank you all — our students, faculty, staff, and families — for doing your part to ensure the safety and well-being of your community.
