Dear NNEWIN’ners!

Many of us may be happy to say goodbye to 2020 and leave the pandemic, the divisiveness, the isolation, and the craziness behind.  How many times have we yearned for “normal.”  Well, does it really make sense to go back to normal?  Ponder this.

“We will not go back to normal.  Normal never was.  Our pre-corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack.  We should not long to return, my friends.  We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment.  One that fits all of humanity and nature.” – Sonya Renee Taylor

At VT WIN, we have the economic power to stitch a new garment…  Let’s go 2021!

January 19, 2021 5:00 6:45pm
Zoom

Bonnie Rukin is the Founder & Coordinator of Slow Money Maine, a 10-year old statewide network connecting food producers to investors and technical assistance in order to build a thriving local food economy and vibrant communities. This work has promoted creative, broad-based engagement, focused on collaborative relationships, and has resulted in many solidly established businesses that have benefited from millions of dollars invested through loans, grants, & equity. Bonnie has brought her background as an organic farmer, teacher, non-profit governance leader and social change agent to this endeavor with very satisfying results!

For more than 40 years, Bonnie has explored many of the complex issues of inherited wealth related to personal needs, family dynamics, privilege, cultural influences, justice and social change. She has chosen to question patterns of functioning with money, and definitions of risk and return, along with readily accepted doctrines/myths associated with white supremacy and the racial wealth divide. She has been courageous in investment choices and passionate with philanthropic activity, and regularly and eagerly seeks out bold and values-aligned allies who continue to learn and practice innovative strategies.

Demystifying Angel Investing: An Introduction to the World of Early-Stage
Angel Capital Association Webinar Series
1:00-2:00 pm

Angel investors are high net worth individuals who invest their own money into seed stage startup companies, providing much-needed capital to bring new companies to market.

Join us for a dynamic panel discussion with leading experts to explore the basics of angel investing, including three reasons to consider angel investing as part of your well-balanced portfolio:

  • Make a difference: Angels leverage their expertise to help new businesses grow and succeed, changing the economic future of an entire region by investing in small startup companies that eventually employ dozens or hundreds of people. Angels often join the boards of their portfolio companies, using their experience and knowledge to directly impact the future of the company, and in turn, make their own investment more successful.
  • Make money: While angel investing can be risky, when angels get a homerun, it can provide a 10X or more returns. Plus, many early-stage investments qualify for favorable tax treatment.
  • Have fun: Working with energetic entrepreneurs and getting a front-row seat for mold-breaking innovations keeps your mind agile and engaged. Nothing is more exciting than the spark of a promising new idea.

Spend 60 minutes with us and you will walk away with a solid understanding of this exciting, game-changing investment class. Featured panel speakers include:
