13th January 2021
A huge thank you to all of our sponsors.
Without them, our Fishing competition wouldn't be possible.

Members please support our sponsors like they do with us.
You must be present to be eligible for a Spot Prize

PREDICTWIND.CO.NZ

Many of you may have noticed a new mast on the top of our club.  This was installed free of charge to us by a company
Predict Wind NZ  along with two other similar weather instruments,  one in Wellington and one in Plimmerton. These all link in with other weather forecast websites around the world for inshore boaties and in fact an offshore version for offshore mariners.
Predictwind is the App you can download. I know you have many others, but have a look at the website as stated in the heading.
If you download the app it brings up the Map of NZ.  With your fingers, you can squeeze down the country size to be more specific with Kapiti.
At our Boat club location is a small green dot, if you touch on that it will reveal the present weather conditions out from our boat club. You can also touch on the area you may be travelling to, ie Fisherman’s rock, and it will give you the sea and weather conditions there.
The map is color-coded for wind strength and direction.  Along the bottom is a slider you can move on to the hour of the day as well as coming days, and it will predict weather conditions.
The website is quite comprehensive with its information.  The professional version, if you are heading offshore will track you through GPS and send you weather forecasts every hour.  (at a cost of course)
Well worth downloading

Youth and Community Fishing

Hi everyone.
The annual Youth and Community Fishing day is happening on the 13th of March 2021.

This day is a highlight of the clubs’ calendar and certainly our favourite event of the year.  It is just wonderful to see the joy experienced by the people invited to participate as well as the skippers, crew and volunteers who help out.

What can you as club members do?

  • Buy the raffles we will be selling specifically to support this event (additional to club raffles)
  • Donate some money to help fund the day’s events.  (These events cost money to run)
  • Give of your time on the day to help with launching, marshalling, general logistics and event support
  • Filleting on the day - If your good with a knife can you please contact  Lyn Williams on 022-310-5249

If you want to be involved or donate money to help, please contact Steve Watson on 027-676-8527, Paul Templer on 027-543-6666 or Steve Kelly on 021- 0222-7303.

This is a fantastic community event and one that has brought happiness to many people over the last 8 years.   It is a privilege to belong to a club that organises this event.

Kind regards
