Dear friends in Christ,
I write with news bittersweet news. Canon Susan Harriss has been called to serve as the interim priest at Christ Church in Bronxville. I am very happy for Canon Susan and for the people of Christ Church in Bronxville, but I am also very sad to see her go. Canon Susan has served as our senior associate priest for the past few years, she has blessed our parish with her presence, preaching, pastoral care, wisdom, and grace, and she will be greatly missed. It has been an honor and pleasure to have her as a colleague and counselor in ministry. I am glad to count Susan and her husband Ken as friends.
Canon Susan’s “final” sermon will be with us this Sunday, January 17, as she begins her work in Bronxville at the end of January. Canon Susan has also recorded a second sermon for a later date – you’ll have to watch each week to see when she reappears! Her final Sunday will be January 24, and she will be present (via Zoom) at the Annual Meeting to say goodbye “in person”. Make sure you sign into the Annual Meeting to say goodbye and God bless. When we are able to do so in-person, we will find a way to celebrate Canon Susan’s ministry and time with us in Pelham.
Please join me in wishing Canon Susan a fond farewell and prayers in this next chapter of her ministry and service to the Church. God bless you Susan; we will miss you very much!!
In Christ,
The Reverend Matthew Hoxsie Mead, Rector
