PRECAUTIONS FOR FIRST AMENDMENT GATHERINGS

The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) has issued security precautions for the First Amendment demonstrations expected Downtown Tuesday through Thursday of this week, especially near the Capitol, the Ellipse, and Black Lives Matter Plaza.

HSEMA and MPD indicated that more demonstrators are expected than were in attendance at prior Trump support rallies this year and they are urging that people and business operators are keenly aware and are prioritizing safety.

On safety precautions and resources for business operators:

  • Be aware and make sure your teams are aware of what may be happening. If you witness questionable behavior, you are always encouraged to call 911
  • The District is NOT encouraging businesses to close or to board up windows, however If you see or need to report property damage to DCRA, you may do so at dcra@dc.gov. For damage in public spaces, the city recommends businesses work through BIDs and Main Streets to report issues and damages to public space assets and/or call 311.
  • Sign up for notifications at alertdc.dc.gov for real-time updates.
  • City officials expect that some demonstrators will disobey the current COVID guidelines in public spaces.
  • If you need to report customers who are refusing to follow COVID guidelines putting your business in a difficult situation as an enforcer, we encourage you to proactively reach out to either ABRA or DOH. If you have a liquor license you can email ABRA at abra.enforcement@dc.gov or call them at 202-329-6347. If you do not have a liquor license, you can contact DOH at food.safety@dc.gov

WINTER RESTAURANT WEEK WITH DINE-IN AND TO-GO

Winter Restaurant Week, presented by Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), returns as the biannual celebration of the region’s resilient restaurants that continue to serve as the cornerstones of our communities.

As diners seek a variety of different options to dine out and restaurants reset their approach to hospitality through the colder months, Restaurant Week will give both diners and restaurants something to celebrate starting Monday, January 18 through Sunday, January 31.

Participating restaurants will offer multi-course dinner menus for $35 or $55 per person. Many restaurants will also offer specially priced to-go dinner meals, available at two price points intended to fit a range of budgets and tastes. If your restaurant would like to participate, you can register on RAMW.org through your member profile until January 10.
