Publishing Work: Dissertation & Thesis Formatting Workshop

Thursday, January 14 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM (CST) on Zoom

Publications and publishing are words that we constantly hear about as graduate students. Publishing before you start a PhD gives you an upper hand when applying for scholarships and fellowships. Publishing while finishing a PhD often guarantees a job. Basically, publications matter!

This workshop will offer the why and how of publishing academic work, how to make decisions about publishing your dissertation or thesis work, and how the formatting process prepares you better when handling publishing your research.

Margaret Heller, Digital Services Librarian, and Tim Koppang, Grad School Formatter, will be leading this workshop. Registration to attend the workshop is encouraged. Please RSVP at gradresearch@luc.edu

Three Minute Thesis

If you had three minutes with a potential funder or employer to describe what your research is about, could you do that? This is the goal of the Three Minute Thesis competition.

Loyola’s Three Minute Thesis competition will take place on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 4:00 PM (CST). This unique competition is open to any Masters or PhD student conducting research for their thesis or dissertation. Please click here for more details on Loyola’s Three Minute Thesis competition for 2021.

Programs must host their own internal competition to determine which graduate student will compete in the university-wide competition. Contact your GPD or department chair if you are interested in competing.

This event is open to the public and The Graduate School strongly encourages all faculty, students, staff, and community members to attend and support the competitors.
