Happy 2021! We made it.
2020 was a year like no other, uprooting everything from our normal professional practices to social interaction. The fact we made it through to the other side shows our resilience and perseverance.
With the significant challenges brought on by the pandemic, came possibilities. Forced to abandon our popular brewery events, CTPH transitioned to the virtual world, continuing to offer technical and practical learning opportunities.
The silver lining in our new COVID reality is the ability to provide content from anywhere, to anywhere, allowing access to those further afield. Our slate of 2021 events will reflect this new dynamic.
With your support – from new and continued memberships to volunteer time – we continued offering resources and opportunities to our members and community. Our weekly newsletter hopes to keep you abreast of upcoming events and trainings, and equally as important – offer connections to our broader community.
Highlights from this year include…
- Ongoing advocacy for better incentives and policies for Passive House in the state.
- Reaching new audiences by joining forces with other like-minded groups such as Connecticut Green Building Council and AIA Connecticut to facilitate more learning opportunities.
- Two award programs specifically recognizing Passive House, including the inaugural year of AIA Connecticut’s Sustainable Architecture Award.
- Teaming up to support Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County by providing welcome baskets to new homeowners.
- The Board attended governance and leadership workshops to learn how to best serve the organization.
Perhaps you’ve been able to take advantage of some downtime to attending some training sessions, or even tested to become a certified Passive House professional.
2021 will bring some exciting new Passive House training opportunities, a return to our popular site visit series (COVID-permitting), and a range of events and presentations to hopefully inspire old and new audiences. Stay tuned!
We sincerely hope your family, friends, and colleagues are, and continue to be, healthy and safe in the new year. Take care.
-- The Board of Directors
