LETTER FROM THE CHAIR
Dear FNAME,
It is a pleasure to share the Spring 2021 edition of our area's newsletter with you. The Global Pandemic has caused so many challenges for people's lives, affecting their health and well-being, and the world economy in general. To counter these effects, there is a need for proactive measures by universities to assist in the recovery for years to come.
As part of this effort, the Marketing area at the Gabelli School of Business has organized a virtual roundtable panel discussion titled "Transforming and Leveraging Business Communities During and Post COVID-19 Crisis". The panelists will share their recovery and rebuilding lessons from 9/11, SARS, and the Great Recession of 2008 and the implications. I invite you to join us in this virtual event which will take place on Wednesday, March 17th from 3:30 to 5:00 pm EST. (FLYER) REGISTER
I also would like to discuss possible collaborations between our educational programs. A critical decision for senior undergraduate students is their plans post-graduation. Studying marketing at our Lincoln Center campus in New York City, the global center of marketing, may be a viable choice. Our MS in Marketing Intelligence (MSMI) program seeks to help students bridge the gaps between marketers' managerial decisions and the needed technical skills. I invite you to discuss the marketing programs at our schools and explore the synergies and collaborations that might emerge between our departments to enhance opportunities for students.
As usual, this newsletter shares with you my colleagues' latest research publications. My colleague, Dr. Sertan Kabadayi, is co-editing the Journal of Services Marketing's special issue on how the Service Discipline can help reduce human suffering and improve their well-being. You will also learn about the marketing area's additional activities at the Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University. I hope you enjoy reading the newsletter.
Best Regards,
Mohammad Nejad, PhD
Area Chair, Marketing
Associate Professor of Marketing
