Colleges with Later Application Deadlines

You still have time to apply to college and enroll next fall!
Many regular college application deadlines fall in January. This list shows colleges with application deadlines of January 15 or later. It includes colleges that use a rolling admission method. That means they have a long window of time to apply, and they respond to applications as they get them instead of waiting till all applications are in.

FAFSA and FSA ID

The 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available! Before you can fill out the FAFSA you need to create an FSA ID.  The FSA ID allows students and parents to identify themselves electronically to access Federal Student Aid websites. While you aren’t required to have an FSA ID to complete and submit a FAFSA form, it’s the fastest way to sign your application and have it processed. Learn more about the Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, and FSA ID

NC Residency Determination Service (RDS)

Are you submitting college applications to public North Carolina schools? If YES, then you need to complete the NC RDS to be eligible for NC in-state tuition, state grants, and certain financial aid. You will need your parent(s) or legal guardian information to answer the NC RDS questions

Durham Public Schools Final Exams Update

The State Board of Education requires that end of course exams be taken in person this year, despite the fact that DPS is operating virtually. If families do not feel comfortable with their child taking the test in person, they may request a delay in taking the exam. To request a delay in EOC/CTE test administration, parents and guardians should contact their student’s teacher directly. Teachers will notify the school administration or the school’s testing committee, and a makeup test time will be scheduled for the student.

Students can receive an 'incomplete' on their exam for now and take the final exam by June 2021 to receive a score. The DPS Board of Education recently voted to make the lowest possible final exam grade for End-of-Course exams for English II, Biology, Math 1, and Math 3, and Career-Technical Education post-assessments a 90 through the end of the school year. This means that if a student forgets material between now and when he/she/they take the exam at the end of the year, their grade will not be impacted.

All final exam grades count as 20 percent of the student’s final grade; the remaining 80 percent will reflect the student’s work in class.
