Congregational Meeting: January 24
CPC’s annual congregational meeting will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary with masks and social distancing required. Since this is an important meeting for which we need all possible members to attend and COVID makes that difficult, the meeting will also be “attendable” via Zoom (Meeting ID: 840 4825 3257; Passcode: 263471).
In addition to reporting on the budget and giving updates on various ministries, the session is excited to present to the congregation two officer candidates for election. These are men who have been nominated, trained, and subsequently examined by the session. Dan Fridsma will be before you as a candidate for the office of deacon and David Diaz for the office of ruling elder. The Book of Church Order of the Presbyterian Church in America requires that the congregation be aware of this election for four weeks prior to the election so you might give prayerful consideration of whether you will receive these men as officers. It is a time to pray, to consider, and to observe so that when you vote on January 24, you can do so with clarity and conviction.
An election requires a quorum. Attendance at a congregational meeting is an important responsibility for members, but is made more important in this case. If there is not a sufficient number of members in attendance, a vote cannot be taken. The elders realize that voting is complicated by the virtual aspect of this meeting. They have have concluded that voting from home via email is acceptable. Details on how this will be done will be given at the meeting.
Mission to the World Virtual Missions Conference
MTW is hosting its first Virtual Missions Conference on February 19–20, 2021. With a theme of “His Story Continues,” MTW will be celebrating what God has done in the midst of a chaotic year in a chaotic world! You’ll hear stories of God’s faithfulness directly from missionaries on the field, as well as from speakers like MTW Coordinator Lloyd Kim; Senior Director of Field Operations Cartee Bales; and International Director of Africa Victor Nakah. Visit mtw.org/vmc to register now! It’s free, but you need to register in advance.
Seminole County COVID-19 Vaccine Availability
Seminole County has made vaccines available for individuals 65+ at this time. The County expects to open additional appointments next week. Residents may register for text alerts for expansion of vaccination appointments and/or criteria by texting COVID19INFO to 888-777; this is the first way additional appointments will be announced. Announcements will also be made on PrepareSeminole.org and through news outlets when additional vaccine appointments are available.
CPC Bulletin Board
This is the time of year when many transitions take place, making items that were once treasures homeless in our houses. Just a reminder that if you'd like to sell, trade, give away, or hire within our church family, you can do so using the CPC Bulletin Board on Facebook.
