EU Commission open consultations 

EU Action Plan Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition: air, water & soil
 
As part of the European Green Deal, the EU has announced its aim to move towards a zero-pollution system. This consultation aims to gather information and opinions on how the EU Action Plan “Towards a Zero Pollution Ambition for Air, Water, and Soil” can most effectively prevent, remedy, monitor, and report pollution to secure clean air, water, and soil across Europe.
 
The feedback period closes on 10 February 2021 at midnight CET.

Ocean observation: sharing responsibility

The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) has improved the EU’s ocean observation capacity. However, more work is still needed to rationalise these observations and define priorities. This consultation aims to gather information and opinions about key ocean-observation challenges, including instrument design, monitoring campaigns, and measurement analysis.

A fundamental transport transformation: Commission presents its plan for green, smart and affordable mobility


The European Commission presented today its ‘Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy’ together with an Action Plan of 82 initiatives that will guide our work for the next four years. This strategy lays the foundation for how the EU transport system can achieve its green and digital transformation and become more resilient to future crises. As outlined in the European Green Deal, the result will be a 90% cut in emissions by 2050, delivered by a smart, competitive, safe, accessible and affordable transport system.

Horizon Europe : Council presidency reaches political agreement with the European Parliament


The EU has come closer to adopting its next multiannual framework programme for research and innovation. The German presidency of the Council today reached a provisional political agreement with the European Parliament's negotiators on the proposed regulation establishing Horizon Europe, the EU framework programme for research and innovation for the years 2021 to 2027.

Video conference of energy ministers, 14 December 2020

Exchange of views of the energy ministers for discussing about the energy system integration in the EU. They also received an update by the Commission on external energy relations and on a number of other matters.

Assessment of the CO2 Storage Potential in Europe (CO2StoP)
 

CO2StoP is the acronym for the “CO2Storage Potential in Europe.” project. The CO2StoP project, which started in January 2012 and ended in December 2013, was funded by the European Commission (Project N°: ENER/C1/154-2011-SI2.611598). The project covered data from 27 countries. The results of the study are provided as a database of CO2storage locations throughout Europe, a Data Analysis/Interrogation Tool and GIS, and a tool to compute storage capacities and injection rates (StoreFit). The database is now housed by the Joint Research Centre -European Commission, Petten, the Netherlands.
