ARTNeT Webinar:

Resetting multilateral and regional cooperation for sustainable trade

The new e-book on “Revitalising Multilateralism: Pragmatic ideas for the new WTO Director General”, co-edited by Simon Evenett and Richard Baldwin, offers practical suggestions for a WTO work programme greatly but not solely shaped by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Since the launch of the book several developments occurred with potential impact for the multilateral trade system including, to name a few:

•    The change in the US administration,
•    The UK (re)assuming its independent trade policy,
•    Signing of the RCEP,
•    EU-China CAI.

At the same time, it should be clear (by now!) that global crises such as COVID-19 pandemic or a looming climate change need global solutions based on cooperation and coordination, beyond bilateral or sub-regional links. The pertinent question remains if the solutions found to work at these levels could be scaled and how to the multilateral level?
This ARTNeT webinar seeks to engage co-editors of the “Revitialising Multilateralism” and several other collaborators and experts in a conversation on how to make international cooperation more effective to reset the trade regime underpinning recovery of economies around the region and the world towards building better future.
