Behavior Change for Good Special Announcement Newsletter

When Angela and I co-founded the Behavior Change for Good Initiative, our mission statement was clear: to advance the science and practice of behavior change. To date, we’ve been pursuing those twin goals by hosting gatherings of the world’s most innovative behavioral scientists, publishing cutting-edge research, partnering on experiments with some of the world’s most impressive organizations, hosting a popular online seminar series, and sharing both our discoveries and failures with the media.

In the year ahead, we’ll further our mission in yet another way: through a book. On May 4, 2021, Penguin Portfolio will release How to Change, a book that attempts to distill everything important I’ve learned about changing behavior for good. Through stories and research, it illuminates problems that keep us from achieving our goals — impulsivity, forgetting, confidence, inertia, and more — and shares proven ways to overcome what holds us back.

Many BCFG team scientists make cameos in How to Change. It shares insights from Modupe Akinola, Dan Ariely, Max Bazerman, Shlomo Benartzi, John Beshears, Scott Carrell, Robert Cialdini, Alia Crum, Hengchen Dai, Angela Duckworth, Carol Dweck, Ayelet Fishbach, Craig Fox, Noah Goldstein, Crystal Hall, Kirabo Jackson, Dean Karlan, David Laibson, Todd Rogers, Marissa Sharif, Richard Thaler, Kevin Volpp, Wendy Wood, and dozens of other brilliant scholars.

My hope is that whether you’re a scientist, manager, coach, or teacher aiming to help others change for the better or are struggling to kick-start change yourself, How to Change: The Science of Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be Hardcover will offer you an invaluable, science-based blueprint for achieving your goals.

I’m tremendously grateful to Angela Duckworth for writing a beautiful foreword for the book and for teaching me many of the key insights that I share in its pages.

Please check out the book and help me spread the word far and wide. You can pre-order it from Amazon, BN, BAM, Audible, Indiebound, or iBooks.
