Meeting the LFPH Community

January 13, 2021 | 11 am - 12 pm ET

CCI was invited to meet with the bigger Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH) community next week over an introductory webinar on vaccine credentials. There, we will share and introduce CCI's work to LFPH corporate members, public health authorities, government officials, as well as academics, with a focus on vaccine credentials and challenges around their implementations.

We encourage CCI community participants to attend and join our conversations. We will have a Q&A session at the end, where you will learn what questions are on the top of public health authorities' minds when rolling out a vaccine credential program.

We look forward to seeing you next week!

LFPH Supports CCI Staffing

LFPH hired Lucy Yang, John Walker, and Kaliya Young on a part-time basis to provide dedicated services to the CCI community and serve as conduits between CCI and LFPH to ensure smooth communication and effective resource allocation. They respectively assume the positions of Community Director, Community Architect, and Ecosystems Director. You can learn more about their responsibilities here.

CCI Interim Steering Committee

An interim steering committee was formed to guide and facilitate decision-making during our transition into LFPH and help CCI establish necessary governance structures and processes. The committee has evolved from the CCI Community Guidance Team and is composed of LFPH/CCI staff, workstream leads, and active community participants. Visit the committee homepage for more information.

CCI in Media

LFPH's press release and vaccine rollout in many jurisdictions have brought mainstream media attention to CCI. In the past few weeks, CCI was interviewed by CNN Business, Financial Times, Business Insider, TechTarget, and a local Pittsburg radio show. Click on the links to read the coverage that has already come out. And learn more here about why we are not working on immunity or vaccination passports!

Migration in Progress

The migration into LFPH and re-organization of mailing lists on Groups.io are 70% completed. We will notify everyone about the completion of mailing lists re-org as soon as it is finished so that regular email activities can resume. We expect to have the rest completed in the upcoming 3-4 weeks. For any questions regarding migration, please feel free to reach out to Lucy Yang at LucyY.CCI@lfph.io

CCI Workstream Updates

Use Case Implementation

Paul Knowles is now leading the Use Case Implementation Workstream and will be the convener of workstream calls. John Walker is going to step in temporarily as the co-lead to support Paul’s work while the Interim Steering Committee is working out a community-driven process to select workstream leads.

In the new year, this workstream will keep serving as a forum for CCI community participants and invited guests to present projects and exchange ideas. It will identify needs and opportunities through the forum and work with the CCI community leadership and LFPH staff to address them.

The first call of the workstream in 2021 will be at 10-11 am ET on Jan 19 (one week later than the tentative date shared before). A new calendar invite and meeting link will be sent out shortly through the workstream mailing list.

Rules & Governance

Sankarshan Mukhopadhyay and Chris Raczkowski will continue to lead this workstream in the new year. Thanks to their leadership and community contribution in 2020, the CCI Governance Framework V2 (GF V2) has been approved as an “Implementation Deliverable” product within the Ecosystem Foundry Working Group (EFWG) at the Trust over IP Foundation (ToIP). The next steps include formatting the document for versioning, storing it within the GitHub repository, and making it available for review and publication from the ToIP.

The Rules and Governance Workstream has been nested within ToIP's EFWG as a task force to develop the GF V2 in the past few months. As it is graduating from ToIP and CCI joined LFPH, the workstream will soon define the next steps for 2021 and share them with the community.

Coordination & Communications

This workstream will be transitioned into a small, dedicated marketing team of volunteers led by Lucy Yang to manage CCI's social media and other marketing assets and won't continue as a workstream anymore. More information will be shared with the community about how this team works, who the initial members are, how to join, and how to stay up-to-date with its work.
