Happy New Year!

2020 was a uniquely difficult year for us, as I am sure it was for many of you. We will have an update for you all shortly about 2021 and our upcoming plans/goals; but first we wanted to share with you some of our highlights of the past year, and how we have seen God's faithfulness and answered prayers in the midst of hardship and uncertainty.
In January we received a scholarship from the Missionary Aviation Student Assistance Fund. This was a huge blessing to us, and allowed us to enter the new year of flight training with extra funds.
In February Abi passed her Commercial checkride, meaning she is now able to fly for hire. He's a picture of her with her flight instructor and the FAA examiner.
In March Abi passed her "Fundamentals of Instruction" written test with a 95%, this was the first step towards earning her flight instructor rating.
In May after over a month of being grounded due to COVID lock downs, Abi took her niece and nephews for a flight (which was coincidentally her first flight as a commercially rated pilot.)
In June we made a lot of visual progress on our Citabria restoration project, taking it from white, to orange, to silver, with the different protective coatings required on a fabric airplane
In July we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary!
In August Abi passed her "Flight Instructor Airplane" written exam with a 98%, the last of the written tests required for her Flight Instructor rating.
In September she passed a 5 hour oral exam and a 2 hour flight exam to become a certified flight instructor, meaning she can now teach others to fly! Here she is pictured with her flight instructor, and FAA examiner.
In October Matt received his High Performance endorsement, meaning he can fly high performance aircraft.
In November SOAR was blessed to receive the donation of a mission field equipped Cessna 206. This aircraft is very similar to the ones we will most likely be flying on the mission field, and so it is a great training opportunity to prepare us for where the Lord may have us next.
In December Abi got to start flying it, and is having a blast!

Happy New Year!
