January Newsletter

Dear Readers,

As we step into the new year and the start of a new decade, I imagine the many possibilities that it brings for us. While 2020 was unprecedented, I also believe it was transformative. We hunkered down, multi-tasked, complained some, but above all, we collectively rose to the challenge. Our human spirit has endeavored to hope and look forward.

This same hope has helped our chapter survive 2020. We were at the brink of closure, but thanks to our new volunteers, we managed to establish a succession plan. New ideas and energy flowed through the chapter as we explored meaningful ways to expand and collaborate.

In this coming year, we look forward to expanding our mentorship program that was launched last year, in addition to hosting our regular webinars on interesting topics. We have also partnered with University of Texas at Arlington to launch an internship program starting this month.

I look forward to serving the board and the chapter in the coming year. If you are interested in volunteering for our chapter, please feel free to contact me at president@stcdfw.org.

Stay tuned for our programming updates. Wishing each and every one of you a happy and safe new year.

Internship With UTA

The North Texas Lone Star Chapter is always exploring new opportunities to collaborate with technical communication students and groom the next generation of professionals. As part of this collaborative effort, we are thrilled to announce our first internship opportunity with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA).

Timothy Ponce, who serves as one of our Board members and is the Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Internships at UTA, presented us with a passionate student looking to intern, and we couldn’t be more excited.

We welcome Michael Dupre to our internship program. This pilot program will run for sixteen weeks. Stay tuned for more information in our monthly newsletter.
