I join you all in prayers for our country today, prayers for our cherished freedoms, prayers for the safety of all, and continued prayers for peace.
This unprecedented day in our country's history, we pray.
And we redouble our faith-filled response to oppose injustice anywhere, especially in our own communities and country.
I encourage you to breathe and pray.
Turn toward your most comforting prayers, or scriptures, or songs.
On this day we celebrate the Epiphany and we consider those wise ones who traveled toward the newborn Christ child, the Prince of Peace. We have visited this scene in our hearts and homes, in our worship and carols and scriptures.And now we turn to a question worth considering each Epiphany: which new path will we travel this year?
I join you on the path toward justice and freedom, and I pray that together we continue to be a faith community that works ceaselessly for freedom and justice for all people.
Gracious and Loving God,
We pray with sighs too deep for words.
We pray for our country and our freedoms.
We pray for one another.
And we pray for a time when justice rolls down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
