Almost a year (!!) into living in New York, one thing has always stood out to me: New Yorkers wear significantly less leggings than their west coast counterparts. While it's probably for the better, as this year draws to a close and the days become blurred in the limbo until the next, the LA girl in me can't be bothered to reach for anything else. But that doesn't mean I throw on a set and go—that wouldn't work in the city. Instead, I try to elevate the wardrobe staple with enough chic layers and cool-girl accessories to shield me from belittling judgments. I genuinely do have high hopes for 2021 (what else can we have?), but I'm a realist, so we're starting this year off with five leggings outfits to wear until we have complete reassurance we need to wear real pants again. Happy New Year!

The Leggings for going everywhere.
Lately, this outfit is all I can think of to put on when I have last-minute places to be. And I mean that literally, because I impulse-purchased this tie-dye set while writing this newsletter and will be wearing it in 3-5 business days.

The Leggings for taking a walk.
I've either been on the east coast too long, or this preppy fit would be perfect for your casual daily walks, which are still looking to be a thing in 2021.

The Leggings for working out.
To stay moving this winter, I begin the first five minutes of my workout with a shrug or cardigan on so I'm not shocked by the cold before my body heats itself up. It makes getting a workout started easier, and your outfit that much cuter.

The Leggings for doing nothing.
If didn't wear some version of this outfit on New Year's Day, I don't believe you.

The leggings for socially distancing.
For days when you have no business working out, and no interest in putting pants on. Turns out, you can still look like a total boss.
