Thank you for being with us during 2020! It is an understatement to say that the past year was a challenge, but Crow’s Shadow had many successes this year as well.
The above image collage reflects some of our 2020 highlights:
Row 1: detail of a forthcoming Jovencio De La Paz edition, Wendy Red Star during her virtual artist talk, Maggie Middleton preparing a test litho stone
Row 2: Ralph Pugay’s interview video, Yoonhee Choi editions getting printed, Jovencio De La Paz signing his monoprints
Row 3: Yoshihiro Kitai signing his editions, remembering Rick Bartow, Maggie Middleton and Judith Baumann printing for Ralph Pugay
Row 4: new press arriving from Tackach, detail of a proof for Wendy Red Star, Natalie Ball editions being printed
Crow's Shadow welcomed three incredible Artists-in-Residence: Wendy Red Star, Ralph Pugay, and Jovencio De La Paz; our new Apprentice Printer, Maggie Middleton joined CSIA at the end of June; Judith Baumann completed editions for Yoshihiro Kitai, Yoonee Choi, Raven Chacon, Yatika Fields, and Natalie Ball. And we were able to make the significant acquisition of a bigger and better Takach litho press.
There is, of course, a lot of “invisible” operational work that goes on to keep our lights on and staff paid, which was no small feat in a year like 2020. Our Executive Director, Karl Davis, managed to keep CSIA on an even keel, and not having to worry about our jobs was something of a luxury that so many other small nonprofits around us struggled with during Covid restrictions. We have been bolstered by our board, friends, clients, volunteers, and donors--that means you. Thank you for reading these emails, and supporting our programming in whatever way you can. We appreciate all of you!
