Cedar Mill and Bethany Libraries share their favorites of 2020, from books and movies to music and games for all ages. You can listen to our podcast discussion of some favorites, or see all our booklists which make it easy for you to place holds.

Teen Tween Fandom Trivia
Friday, January 15 | 3:30-4:30pm | Zoom & Kahoot

Local teens voted and you can compete in our fandom trivia based on their votes! Are you a Star Wars superfan? Know every Infinity Gem and where it was found? Have you binged the Office during quarantine? Sign up for our fandom trivia and test your knowledge. Trivia will be done using Kahoot and you will need a second device or another browser tab open.

Ages 11-18 only.

Writers' Mill

Whether you’re writing just for fun, hoping for publication, or planning to self-publish, join us for a hands-on inspiring gathering of people who love to write. Newcomers welcome!

Rockstar Readers Book Club
Tuesday, January 19 | 4-4:45pm | Zoom

Join us for a fun, engaging monthly book discussion for kids! Explore books from various genres with an emphasis on diverse stories. Rockstar Readers Book Club is for kids in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, adult participation optional. In January we'll read Malala: My Story of Standing up for Girls' Rights by Malala Yousafzai.

Estate Planning Workshop
Wednesday, January 20 | 6-7:30pm | Zoom

Everyone has an estate, no matter what you’ve acquired in life. Yet 75% of the public is unprepared, unaware that they even have an estate. Join attorney Richard Schneider, co-author of Fundamentals of Oregon Estate Planning, to learn about the legal documents that everyone needs. Discover the differences between wills and living trusts and ascertain which one is right for you and your family. Get up-to-date information on necessary health care documents, powers of attorney, guardianship and retirement issues.

Diverse Reads Book Group: Latin American Author
Thursday, January 21 | 6:30-7:30pm | Zoom

Join a community of readers in exploring and discussing a variety of written works, including short stories, nonfiction, poetry and fiction that fairly represents the perspective of marginalized groups. Selections will seek to embrace diversity in its many forms.

In January, we will read three short stories by Clarice Lispetor, a Latin American author. The stories are all available in The Complete Stories by Clarice Lispector or online.

Voices in Verse Poetry Group
Saturday, January 23 | 10:30am-12pm | Zoom

Share your own poetry or listen to others read their favorites. The group meets on the fourth Saturday morning of each month.
