"A Northwestern University-based research team has unveiled an online COVID-19 data dashboard that aims to show more quickly where infections are surging in states and across the world.

The dashboard joins scores of others related to the pandemic that are hosted by governments, news media, nonprofits and universities. This one crunches the data in a new way that its creators say can flag surges faster and more precisely, before they become overwhelming."--Chicago Tribune

IVDRS & SUDORS Data Request

Illinois Violent Death Reporting System (IVDRS) is a part of The National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS), the only state-based surveillance (reporting) system that pools unique data elements from multiple sources into a usable, anonymous database. IVDRS covers all types of violent deaths – including homicides and suicides – in all settings for all age groups.

The Statewide Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) helps us understand emerging trends and factors leading to overdose and can be used to develop prevention approaches. SUDORS data come from coroner reports. We use the data to disseminate surveillance findings to key stakeholders to prevent overdoses.

IVDRS and SUDORS are open to sharing analysis results with researchers, policymakers, violence prevention programs and others for more focused collaborative projects. To discuss the use of IVDRS and SUDORS findings to inform violence prevention, please fill one of the forms below.

Qualitative Methods Workshop for Community Partners

This two-part session will provide an introductory overview of qualitative methods including types of qualitative data, tool creation, data collection methods, analysis, and provide opportunities to apply this learning through practice. The sessions will focus on qualitative methods most relevant to health-related community programming so there will be a heavy focus on preparing and conducting interviews. The second session will focus on learning from practice exercise experiences and analyzing interview and focus-group data. This training is designed to be completed as a set, with learning from the first session applied and revisited in the second session. The sessions are highly interactive and practice exercises will be assigned for completion on your own during the week between sessions.

This series is open to everyone but designed for community organizations. This training is co-hosted by Northwestern's Alliance for Research in Chicagoland Communities (ARCC) and Buehler Center for Health Policy and Economics and will be led by ARCC Steering Committee Member Sarah Welch, Director of Evaluation Research in the Buehler Center.
