Corrections, Updates, Special Notices

SPECIAL NOTICE: COVID Vaccinations - The COA and Board of Health have received a number of inquiries regarding the availability of the COVID vaccine for residents 75 and older in Carlisle.  At the present time Town departments are not taking pre-registrations or compiling vaccination lists. As soon as we are notified of the timing of vaccine distribution to local Boards of Health for Phase 2, Group 1, the Town will create a centralized process for scheduling appointments and will disseminate information to residents about the dates, process, and guidelines.  In the meantime, if you have the opportunity to receive the vaccine through your primary care physician, we encourage you to do so.

SPECIAL NOTICE: Storytelling Grant - The COA has just been awarded a 2021 grant to provide a six-week personal storytelling course for up to 12 individuals. Entitled, Voices of Experience, Sharing Personal Narratives, the project includes six two-hour zoom sessions with the Brooklyn Comedy Collective. The Comedy Collective has extensive experience in teaching the art of storytelling and will tailor the course to meet the needs of the group. This opportunity is open to any Carlisle resident who is aged 60 or older. The online course will offer the use of captioning to allow those who have some degree of hearing loss to participate. We will be partnering with the Gleason Library and Carlisle Public Schools to offer virtual events where stories will be shared. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please call the COA or email Carol Grueneich, at cgrueneich@carlislema.gov.

SPECIAL NOTICE: FREE Take Home Fun: Colored Pencils & Coloring Sheets Kits - With all of the stresses of life, we could all use an activity that elicits childhood nostalgia and promotes some good old-fashioned fun! Limited supplies available. Call the COA 978-371-2895 to reserve your set of colored pencils and relaxing coloring sheets.

Volunteer for the COA - Do you have some time that you might be available to volunteer?  The Council on Aging can always use volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels, help with programs, and so much more.  If you have a talent and are willing share it (play music, sing, provide a lecture or program) or can help with any of the above, call the COA 978-371-2895 to discuss.
