Hope you all are doing well. And we are back! Our annual inventory is all wrapped up and our doors are open once again. What a relief to begin the new year with a freshly cleaned out cooler and an even cleaner conscience. Now we can stride into 2021 without anything hanging over our heads. Right? ....right??? **Frantically reads the news** Okay, never mind. But at least the cooler is cleaned up!
Speaking of clean, how freaking cool does that label art look?! If you're on the straight and narrow for January, yet still want a little something to take the edge off, allow me to introduce our latest collaboration with Best of Hands Barrelhouse; The Mansion Has Many Rooms Low Gravity Ale. The Mansion Has Many Rooms will be an ongoing low gravity (meaning low sugar, and therefore a lower alcohol & lower calorie product) exploratory series dedicated to producing sessionable, yet flavorful, ales. Check out our Instagram Feed with accompanying time lapse of the creation of the artwork above here or just read the copy below:
COMING 1.13.2021
A Mansion Has Many Rooms
2.5% Riwaka Pale Ale w/ Vanilla
The inaugural launch of our exploratory low-gravity series with @bestofhands, featuring a heavy dose of Riwaka hops and a hint of vanilla. The timelapse above shows the extreme attention to detail @elimakingstuff puts into his craft. It is an honor for us to be able to collaborate with local artists who entertain weird ideas/concepts and execute them brilliantly. We absolutely love how the design turned out and decided to have some t-shirts made to accompany the release. Both the beer and the t-shirts will be released next Wednesday 1/13 available exclusively at The Beer Junction and Best of Hands. Cue the launch sequence!
Cheers!
Sully and the Beer Junction team

Weekly Beer History + Fun Facts
California Common
Originally known as "Steam Beer", though today that name is claimed solely by Anchor Brewing, the California Common came to existence in San Francisco in the mid-to-late 1800's. During that period, streams of people moved to the American West lured by promises of the Gold Rush and wide open spaces. Beer, of course, went with them. So-called steam beer is produced when lager (bottom-fermenting) yeast is allowed to ferment at warmer temperatures, resulting in a crisply nuanced yet hearty hybrid of both styles. This brewing process catered aptly to demands of it's day; to the consumers thirst for lager beers and for the lack of refrigeration available to brewers on the expanding American western frontier. Steam beer's rough and tumble production origins fit with its favor among the working class of the day, not unlike the role of porter in Industrial Revolution-era London. As refrigeration and more modern brewing techniques came to the West, brewers moved to more strictly defined lager styles, resulting in the near extinction of steam beer. Today, the brewers association has rebranded brews of this style under the moniker "California Common" due to Anchor Brewing's staunch defense of their 1981 trademark for the name Steam Beer.
