Canadian Association of Research Libraries Releases Copyright Resources for Universities (CARL, December 17)
L’Association des bibliothèques de recherche du Canada lance une ressource en matière de droit d’auteur pour les universités (ABRC, 17 décembre)
CARL has released a new Open Educational Resource on copyright for university faculty and staff, which is made up of seven short self-directed modules. University employees are guided through instructional videos and brief quizzes that will help them navigate the complexities of copyright law in Canada. // L’ABRC a lancé une nouvelle ressource éducative libre sur le droit d’auteur pour le personnel universitaire. Indigenous Storyteller-in-Residence Program Introduced at USask’s University Library (University of Saskatchewan, December 15)
“The first position of its kind at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) and unique in the province, the Indigenous Storyteller-in-Residence program at the University Library is slated to begin as a six-week pilot on Jan. 4, 2021. [...] Lindsay Knight, a PhD student in the Department of Indigenous Studies at USask, will serve as the first Storyteller-in-Residence at USask. Knight, also known as Eekwol, is an award-winning hip-hop artist with nine album releases to her credit." Read more

New State Funding for Social Movements Database 
The State Funding for Social Movements database (database.statefunding.ca) is a new digital tool for teaching or research related to Canada’s nonprofit sector. The database provides information on government grants to over 13,000 NGOs in Canada since the 1960s. The University of Alberta Library provides a template for listing the database in library catalogues. Read more

Advancing Responsible Research Assessment (Elsevier, December 16)
In this press release, Elsevier announces that it has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and is making the reference lists for all its articles openly available via Crossref, which will allow for inclusion in the Initiative for Open Citations. Read more
