Youth Ministry

Youth Sunday Planning, Sunday January 10

High school and middle school youth are invited to meet by Zoom from 5-6pm and help brainstorm Scripture passages, music, and decorations for this year's Youth Sunday theme of Tree.  Just think of all of the stories in the Bible that involve a tree:  Adam and Eve eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Isaiah tells us that the trees of the field will clap their hands, Zacchaeus climbs a Sycamore tree to see Jesus, and more.  To participate in this brainstorming session and help prepare worship for February 7, please use our 2020-2021 youth group Zoom access link or request one by emailing your name to James Rogers by 4:30pm on Sunday.  Those interested in helping lead worship on February 7, should check out the available Youth Sunday leadership parts and sign up.

January Youth Group Calendar

Check out our January Youth Group Calendar which includes a downtown walk and Youth Sunday rehearsal.  The schedule is planned by our Youth Leadership Team, approved by our Christian Education Committee, and over the year includes a balance of the five areas of youth ministry:  Fellowship, Service, Congregational Care, Worship, and Discussion/Bible Study.  Special thanks to our Youth Leadership Team which met virtually in August and brainstormed ways to continue ministry in the midst of a pandemic.  First (Scots) Youth Leadership Team 2020-2021:  Hugh Buxton, Julian Buxton, Graham Cosby, Grayson Glenn, Walker Glenn, Callie Harper, Mills Jordan, Will LeClercq, Hewitt McKenzie, Sarah McLean, Will Siegling, Adair Smith, Pinckney Smith, Hammond Unger, Manning Unger, and Porter Yount.

Did You Follow the Star?

Did you check out the d365 daily devotional this Advent or Christmas?  If so, please let James Rogers know, so he can send you a special treat.  If not, be sure to check out www.d365.org or search d365 in your app store.  Featuring Scripture, prayer, and reflection accompanied by gentle music (be sure to turn the sound on!), these brief devotionals are written especially for youth and young adults, but can help us all reflect daily on how God is work in our lives and world.

Sunday School Returns!

High School Sunday School (9:45-10:45am):  This group is meeting in the Kirk House High School Room socially distanced with masks.  This week they are starting and discussing the movie Yesterday.  Questions about this class?  Contact Amy Shubert, Chantal Byrne, or Hayley Carter.  Text @fshsss to the number 81010 to receive class reminders and updates.

Middle School Sunday School (9:45-10:05am):  Join Steve & Jenks Bailey and Betsy Martin via Zoom for a fun and enriching Sunday school class.  This twenty-minute virtual format was designed based on the feedback that you (our 6th and 7th grade families) offered at the beginning of the school year.  If you need the Zoom link or if you have any questions about this class, please contact:   Steve Bailey, Jenks Bailey and Betsy Martin.
