County:  The County of Orange is proactively leading Orange Countys response to COVID-19. The next critical phase is providing the vaccine to residents in a phased, tiered approach. The County is anticipating the need for at least five Super PODs that will be brought online as they are approved, staffed, and have COVID-19 vaccines available. The location of the County Super POD sites are in development, and will be announced as they are finalized. Once finalized, the County Super POD sites will be opened in a phased approach and will be located regionally throughout Orange County.  READ MORE

The County has also created the “Vaccines Administered in OC” dashboard, found here.  They anticipate being able to add additional details when more robust data is received from the State next week.

An at-home COVID-19 saliva-based testing kit is available to all county residents.  Individuals that live in Orange County can register online by visiting the Health Care Agency’s website here and clicking the Ambry link to request to have a kit shipped to their home.  Home delivery kits contain detailed instructions on collecting the saliva specimen, as well as how to package and return the kit to the lab for testing.  Results of the test should be provided to you within a few days.   If you register and select to pick up your testing kit at a community clinic, those locations are also listed on their website here.

The State is urging Californians to add their phone to the fight through CA Notify, a digital tool designed to notify Californians of their possible exposure to COVID-19.  The free, mobile technology is now available to all Californians and can be accessed on mobile devices.

Federal:  Over the holidays a $900 billion pandemic relief bill was signed into law that included enhanced unemployment benefits and direct cash payments.  Included was $600 stimulus payments to individuals, and those that are unemployed will see a $300 weekly federal enhancement through March 14th.  The bill also reopened the Paycheck Protection Program for businesses, grant opportunities for live venues, theaters and museum operators, aid for schools and rental assistance, along with other aid programs.
