January Newsletter
"I am teaching Music Workshop as part of exposing the children to various cultures and their music as they need more background knowledge and it is very limited to them.
This exposes them to various cultures of the world which they may never experience in real life."
Suzanne, Music Teacher, Canada
We are always working to improve Music Workshop
With our big files and amazing user growth, the site had gotten a bit laggy. We know you don't have a lot of time to spare so we have been working to improve the speed of our site. Happily, we were able to accomplish our goal and we love the results. We hope this is making lesson planning a little bit easier!

Music Workshop &
National Music Education Standards

There is a new addition to our website - documents that highlight how our program aligns with Music Education Standards. We are pleased to provide you with these additional resources to demonstrate how Music Workshop courses are standards-based and promote cross-curricular learning for students.
February is Black History Month
Are you lesson planning for next month? Music Workshop has some courses that are great additions to your lessons. Jazz, R&B, Rock n' Roll... check them out to include in your Black History Month activities.

Thank you, Dr. Tiffe, for being a part of the Music Workshop Team!
Last year, we created a Teacher Advisory Group that was incredibly effective in helping us gain insight into the K-8 music education landscape, opportunities for the Music Workshop program to improve and brainstorming potential additions to the program resources. This year, we are looking to include additional teachers to expand the group to ten teachers and then work to build on our successes. Participants in this group will be compensated for their time and expertise. Please contact amyh@musicworkshopedu.org to join this exciting group!

Teacher's Suggestion Box

We hear great ideas from our teachers!

We love hearing from our teachers - about how the students react and grow from the program, how Music Workshop brings the world of music to your classrooms and how the program enhances your classrooms. We especially love when our teachers give us suggestions about the myriad of ways to integrate Music Workshop into their teaching.

We recently heard from a teacher in Central Oregon with a great suggestion. She shared with us that she preps her class for each Music Workshop lesson by reading the Sound Bites Document (a recap of the course) out loud to the students to prepare them for what they will be learning. Alternatively, reading the questions from the Fill-in form before each section helps the students focus their listening on the information to be shared.

What are your great ideas? Share them with us so we can share will all our Music Workshop teachers!
