The Power of Compassion and Love
January 7, 2021

First, From the Heart

No sooner did we bid farewell to the devastation of 2020 than new chaos and the continuation of existing challenges rose to an even more frenzied pace. Just when we need to slow down, time feels like it’s speeding up. We have barely taken a breath to integrate all the loss, grief, and suffering when we are forced to plunge ahead into the next chapter of life on earth as we now know it.

There is no arguing that all of humanity, our institutions, and our planet are at the 11th hour. As leaders, the choices we make in the days and months ahead will determine our trajectory for decades to come. What if we all lead with love, kindness, and compassion? What if we pay attention to the many important lessons and teachings that have emerged from the ashes, and learn to do better? You and I know we can. And as a strong community of compassionate leaders, we will.

Practice Matters

Begin Again

How astounding that we have the perpetual opportunity to begin again. Whether it comes at the turn of the year, with each new moon, the sunrise, after a difficult argument, or living through a great tragedy. The precious gift to begin again also rides on every breath, and in every moment.

As you encounter each new beginning, how might you choose to respond? With love, joy, courage, and forgiveness for yourself and others? Or are you prone to whip up more fear, anxiety, and blame? Try bringing your awareness and gratitude to each new moment without judgment and see what happens. As we honor and flow with each new spark of life, we naturally expand into our full potential. How is this moment?

When can we practice? Always!
