A major incident has been declared in London
 due to the rapid spread of coronavirus.

The Mayor of London has declared a major incident as the virus threatens to overwhelm hospitals across our city, including Kingston Hospital.

Major action is now needed to avoid crisis and many more deaths.

YOU MUST STAY AT HOME.

Stay at home this weekend
Cases of coronavirus are extremely high in Kingston, and Kingston Hospital is under immense pressure. 

To protect our local NHS and to keep your family and loved ones safe, you must stay at home. You cannot leave your home except for a few essential reasons, such as to:
  • shop for basic necessities, for you or a vulnerable person
  • go to work, or provide voluntary or charitable services, if you cannot reasonably do so from home
  • exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person once per day, within your local area
  • avoid injury, illness or risk of harm (including domestic abuse)
  • get a COVID-19 test, for medical appointments and emergencies
  • if you are contacted for COVID vaccination
Everybody has a personal responsibility to protect their loved ones and those around them by following the rules.

Coronavirus Vaccine


The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

The coronavirus vaccine is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against coronavirus. 

The vaccine is administered by the NHS and is completely free. The NHS will never ask you for bank details or money when delivering the vaccine.

If you have been invited for an appointment to have the vaccine, please make sure you turn up for both your first and second dose. This will  mean you receive full protection as well as ensuring we don’t waste vaccines or the time of NHS staff. Find out more about the vaccine.

Need to go to A&E?


Call 111 first to get the right help for you quickly, while staying COVID-safe. 

NHS 111 can now book same day appointments at A&E for people in Kingston who need urgent care. Go to 111.nhs.uk or call 111.

The symptoms of COVID-19 are:
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
If you experience any of these symptoms, however slight, you must self-isolate immediately (that means stay at home), and book a coronavirus test as soon as possible.

You can book a test by calling 119 or by visiting nhs.uk/coronavirus. You can leave your home to get a test.

We know test slots are booking up quickly but please continue to stay at home and isolate until a slot becomes available or alternatively order a home test kit.

With so many cases of people across our borough having the virus without any symptoms we are urging all residents to act as if YOU have coronavirus.
