English remote education plan
Dear Parent/Carer,

Due to the current situation, the English department has reviewed the current structure of the Year 10 teaching plan and decided to make a change to give Year 10 students the best chance of success going forward. Students were due to study the play ‘An Inspector Calls’ in full this term, but we have decided to move this to a later date when the students are back in College.

Therefore, we are moving the poetry topic forward for an early start as this is easier to complete at home. This topic will start for the students on Monday.

Students will be posted an anthology (book of poems) home today and this should arrive with them next week. They will need this for every English video lesson going forward as they will need to read the poems from Section B in the book and highlight/annotate them as they work through their video lessons.

Students will work through 8 poems from now until February half term – any of these 8 poems are due to appear in their Literature exam next year so it is very important that they complete these lessons and learn these poems while at home. The other 7 poems in Section B will be studied later this year.

Students will also be directed to GCSEPod – a website with video explanations of the poems – throughout the videos. They should have log in details already for this website.

If there are any issues with any of the above going forward, please contact your student’s English teacher in the first instance and they will try to help.

Thank you,

Mr Sharpe
