Community Champions

We would like to inform you about the new Community Champions initiative and invite you to sign up.

We are seeking community spirited people to join a team of champions in helping to share key information and advice about coronavirus.

We want to reach as many people as possible across the borough by sharing accurate and up to date information about coronavirus and we need your help to do this!

The new Community Champions initiative is a partnership between the Council and the NHS and welcomes volunteers from across the borough to share key information about coronavirus with friends, family, and local community networks. This will ensure our messages reach as many people as possible to ensure we are fully informed about the virus, reduce the amount of misinformation, and signpost the support available.

The NHS in south east London is very busy due to rising coronavirus infection rates, but we’ll still help you get urgent care when you need it.

GPs are providing more appointments for patients with urgent health needs, including evenings and weekends. Contact your own practice and they will tell you how to arrange local, same-day appointments if you need urgent care. There may be some disruption to non-urgent services over the next two weeks as practices respond to urgent care requests. However, please do not contact your GP practice or other NHS service to enquire about the COVID-19 vaccine or when you might receive it. If you would like information on the vaccine please visit the NHS South East London CCG website.

Fight flu this winter!

Did you know that people at high risk from flu are also most at risk from COVID-19?

There’s never been a better time to protect yourself, your friends and family from the double danger of seasonal flu and coronavirus.

The most at-risk people will be invited first to take up this year’s flu vaccination, free of charge.

Once the vaccination of the most ‘at-risk’ groups is well underway, health services will confirm when best to invite people aged 50 to 64 to secure their flu vaccination.

Get your flu vaccination at your GP surgery, a local pharmacy, your workplace, school or midwifery service.

Keep Greenwich Safe.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I welcome this announcement of much-needed additional support, which business groups and I have been calling for.
