JROTC Conducts Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup
JROTC conducted an Adopt-a-Highway cleanup event
East Central High School's JROTC conducted an Adopt-a-Highway cleanup event Saturday, Dec. 12. Twenty-one JROTC Cadets gave their Saturday morning to ensure the stretch of FM 1628 from Sulphur Springs Road to U.S. Highway 87 was clean and presentable, removing nine large bags of trash from the roadside.

Thank you to these Cadets and the JROTC program for going the extra mile...literally!

Ms. Moody and her 5th grade remote and face-to-face students are actively engaged in learning
Ms. Moody and her 5th grade remote and face-to-face students at Highland Forest Elementary actively learn about complex sentences and descriptive language. Ms. Moody has been very creative in finding ways to incorporate all students in learning, including putting face-to-face and remote students in breakout rooms together!
ECHS Students Thank Business for Donation
Shout out to Valdez Pallet Company for donating 50 pallets to East Central High School's Vocational STEP Program.
Shout out to Valdez Pallet Company for donating 50 pallets to East Central High School's Vocational STEP Program. In appreciation of their generosity, students delivered a thank you card and donuts to Mr. Valdez and his daughter. The students will use the pallets to make garden boxes for a sensory garden located in South Campus's courtyard
District's A/C Department Gets High Marks

Oak Crest Students Build Robot for Competition
Oak Crest Elementary students Jodie and Alejandro use technology to help build a VEX IQ robot for Spring competition.
Oak Crest Elementary students Jodie and Alejandro use technology to help build a VEX IQ robot for Spring competition. The robotics program is part of East Central's STEM initiative to promote critical thinking, problem-solving and prepare students for demanding careers.
ECISD Leads the Way in Educational Innovation
Ms. Whitney Weddel is leading two statewide panels to develop new courses in Health Science Education focusing on Clinical Ethics and Nursing Practices.
ECISD continues to lead the way in educational innovation during a global pandemic! Ms. Whitney Weddel is leading two statewide panels to develop new Health Science Education courses focusing on Clinical Ethics and Nursing Practices. Her teams are developing the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to be taught in these new courses and identify skills students need to develop, certifications teachers need, and resources students and teachers will utilize. Way to go, Ms. Weddel!
Twenty Teachers Participating in STEM Program
Twenty teachers from CAST Lead, East Central High School and Salado Leadership Academy are participating in the Alamo STEM Workforce Coalition's Teacher Externship. The teachers will learn how to engage students with real-world challenges for problem-solving. This participation is one more way that ECISD is leads the way in community engagement, partnerships and post-secondary readiness. We are so proud of these teachers for taking advantage of this opportunity!
ECHS Future Teachers Lead Staff Development
Teacher Prep 2 (Practicum in Education and Training) students lead a professional development session
This week, East Central High School's Teacher Prep 2 (Practicum in Education and Training) students presented a professional development session on "How to Incorporate Hands-On Learning" to the school staff. There were three students in person and eight online! We are so proud of these future teachers!
