President's Message

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I look forward to connecting with you this Monday, January 11 at noon for our “Getting Back on the Road” program. We will be hearing from panelists in the hotel, airline and rental car industries about the state of their industries, what changes have been implemented and what we can expect moving forward. Please invite your friends and business associates to join us!

We closed out 2020 with Melissa Milroy’s Annual Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 14. I think I speak for all in attendance when I say that a little retail therapy was just what the doctor ordered. A big thank you to Melissa for taking such care in her selection of items from the Galleria Mall. Thank you also to Lenore Nolan-Ryan of Lenore Nolan-Ryan Cooking School and Catering for opening the holiday luncheon with a festive take on Sangria that left us wanting a glass in hand.

We are kicking off our BWA Power Team meetings this month. If you are a Team Leader and have not yet reached out to your group to schedule a time to meet, please do so. We’d like all Teams to meet in January and provide feedback so we can make any necessary changes to the format or teams. As this is our first run at this concept, we anticipate some tweaks along the way.

We are thrilled to announce that Linda Alley and Jill Ginsberg have joined BWA. We’ve enjoyed interacting with them on our Zoom events and look forward to getting to know them better and meeting them in person when it’s safe to do so.

We look forward to strengthening our connections, raising our social media presence, engaging quality speakers and increasing membership in 2021. What are your goals? Drop us a line and let us know. Studies show that writing down your goals makes it much more likely you’ll achieve them.

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood is pleased to present:
2020 Florida Biennial: NOW is the time/the time is NOW. This 10^th edition of the Center’s Biennial was juried by Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon, Associate Curator for Collections and Exhibitions at the Orlando Museum of Art. The Biennial features 34 Florida artists, including two Artist Select solo shows. The show runs through February 21, 2021.

Free Arts! Family Day
Enjoy free admission to the galleries and an interactive STEAM-based art-making activity at the Center's monthly Free Arts! Family Day on Sunday, January 17^th from Noon to 4 pm. Presented on the third Sunday of every month, Free Arts! engages visitors of all ages in a theme-based art-making activity that encourages creativity and collaboration among families and friends. December’s activity is titled Winter Weaving Cozy Quilts.
