Your Library Online
Knowledge at your fingertips!
As this lockdown continues, we thought we'd give you a quick reference list of all the services and resources you can access remotely.

Additionally, all three of our libraries are still open. You can find full details of the measures we've taken to keep everybody safe on our website.
Before you get started...

If you haven't heard of an OpenAthens account before, it's a single-sign-on service which you'll need in order to securely log in to our resources.

If you've got an account already, you're all set! If not, register for an account - it's all free and quick to complete.

Please note that locally funded resources available via OpenAthens may vary depending on which organisation you belong to.
Journals and eBooks
You can access thousands of journals and hundreds of ebooks online - all you need is an OpenAthens account registered to East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
Journals
You can search for journals on our catalogue. If we have access to a title, just follow the relevant links to log in and start reading.
eBooks
We have various collections of ebooks available, including Oxford Handbooks, evidence-based practice titles, and more!
Article, book & literature search requests
If you cannot find or access the article you are after, you can request it from us and we can supply a PDF for you.

Similarly, if you find a book that you would like to borrow, you can request it from us. Books can be collected in person at your desired library, or sent to a work address.
You can also request a literature search from our librarians, who will review evidence for your clinical work, professional development or research.
Help & Training
Library staff are available remotely to demonstrate such things as: how to find out if you have access to a certain journal, quick ways to find articles online, how to access and use ebooks, and much more!

Remote sessions can take place for East Kent Hospitals staff and students via Cisco Webex and Cisco Jabber, and for all users via telephone.
We can also arrange individual or team sessions on searching for evidence, and getting started with using the Healthcare Databases.
