President's Message
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone is safe and well. Times are difficult but we can support and inspire one another via social media, our CAS Members Resources page MEMBERS RESOURCES - Creative Arts Society, the February 3rd Quarterly Zoom Meeting and participation in our rotating and curated exhibits. Once gathering restrictions are lifted, we look forward to being able to schedule special exhibits and community events.
Don’t miss out on the fun! Please renew your membership for 2021 before March to avoid the risk of being dropped from our distribution lists for future newsletters, calls for art and announcements. We are offering a discounted renewal fee to 2020 members of $30 (vs. $45). You can renew here: https://www.creativeartssociety.org/membership-information.html.
We thank folks for adhering to the new contactless pick up and drop off protocols implemented at our rotating exhibits. If possible, please patronize our restaurant venues, Cypress Grill and Zaviya Grill during these difficult times.
Our Holiday Market exhibit is still up on our CAS website but we are planning a new virtual exhibit, Spring Bazaar. Keep an eye out for the Call for Art for this new online sale opportunity in the next few weeks. Please publicize these galleries to your friends, family and social media networks as much as possible.
I am honored to serve as your President. If you have any suggestions for improvement as we navigate these challenging times together, please email me at president@creativeartssociety.org.
Thank you and I hope to “see” you on February 3rd at our next meeting! Watch for the Zoom meeting link email.
Joyce LaBaw

CAS Sales
This is an overview of the sales at our CAS venues, compiled by Treasurer, RJ Armstrong. You can see that we had an upward trend which was abruptly interrupted by Covid-19. We are encouraged that we had some sales toward the end of 2020 which hopefully indicates that there is pent up demand and once restrictions lift, we will be a in a great position to sell more art!
CAS Donations
As part of CAS’ effort to actively promote development of the “Artist in Everyone”, we donate to various organizations that help in that effort. The CAS Board has agreed to donate to the following organizations:
- ACC Art Scholarship Fund
- Art from the Streets
- Art Spark (formerly VSA)
- Imagine Art
- Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health at UT Austin - Mental Health Creative Arts Contest
- Totally Cool Totally Art

CAS Spring Bazaar Market
Creative Arts Society board members plan to refresh and update the Holiday Market. Look for a new call for art for the new Spring Bazaar. We will continue to require artists to manage their own shipping for sales made.
CAS Artists Portfolio Program
CAS has been fortunate to be able to provide many wonderful opportunities for our members through our regular rotating and juried exhibits over the years. In an effort to expand our reach and your career, we offer a curated program designed to match artists who are seeking solo and small group shows with venues seeking artwork for their space. All current CAS members are encouraged to join.
There is no deadline for application, but you must be a current member of CAS to be listed in the Portfolio. CAS artists who submit are featured in the CAS Artists Portfolio which is presented to our CURATED VENUES for selection. Applicants must have a body of work large enough in order to hang 10-20 pieces if selected by the venue, a functioning website or professional artists’ social media page featuring relevant art, and be able to hang your own artwork and make your own labels.
Note: there are additional submission and hanging requirements for exhibits that fall under the curated program listed in the CALL for ART. To find out more and submit your work, visit https://www.creativeartssociety.org/artists-portfolio-application.html
Inclusion in the CAS Artists Portfolio does not guarantee a show. The CURATED VENUE manager or owner selects artists from the portfolio of eligible artists. This portfolio is not the same as the online CAS gallery that is viewable by anyone. The portfolio is only for CURATED VENUES and not shared with the general public.
NOTE: If you are already listed in the portfolio and would like to change your listing, please follow the application link to make changes to your profile or withdraw from the CAS Artists Portfolio. Artists Portfolio Withdrawal - Creative Arts Society

CAS EXHIBIT SPACE NEEDS
Whenever possible, CAS has ongoing and one-time exhibits around town. We are always looking to expand exhibit potential. To do that, we need Spaces and Venue Coordinators. If you know of a space that could use some artwork or if you are interested in being a Venue Coordinator, contact the Exhibits Chair, Martha Kull for recurring exhibit venues; the Curated Exhibits Chair, Betsy Denny, for venues that prefer curated exhibits; or the Special Events Chair, Jane Fier, for one-time or annual exhibits. Refer to "CAS Exhibit Space Needs / Venue Coordinator Needs" in CAS Events & News section of this newsletter.
