Did you know?

Chinese New Year, Tết, Losar, and Seollal are just some of the many celebrations happening among AAPI communities this February to ring in the first new moon of the Lunar New Year. Different customs include giving out money-filled hóng bāo or sebaedon, eating bánh chưng or amdo bread, and celebrating with friends and family.

February is also Black History Month! Stay committed to amplifying Black voices, stories, and leaders by taking the time to reflect on the rich history of Black culture, achievements, activism, influence, and more. Honor this month (and months beyond) by celebrating our Black allies.

Inspiring AAPI Leaders

Tiffany Sithiphone is the Vice President of Special Events for NAAAP Atlanta. In this role, she leads the planning and execution of the annual Chopstix for Charity gala, which awards grants to deserving nonprofits in greater Atlanta. After joining the NAAAP Atlanta board in 2019, Tiffany was chosen as NAAAP Leader of the Year in 2020. This honor is given to one leader every year out of the hundreds of leaders across the country's 25 chapters.

Tiffany is currently a Senior Analyst at WarnerMedia within the Turner Sports Data Strategy and Insights group. As someone who is passionate about diversity issues, she is on her department's D&I committee working on a Racial Understanding Research Initiative to uncover how our social identity impacts us in the workplace. Tiffany also dedicates her time as an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers where she currently serves on the National Convention Planning Committee.
Hines Ward is known for his professional NFL career as a former offensive assistant for the New York Jets and wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the first Korean American to win the Super Bowl MVP award.

Born in South Korea to a Korean mother and African American father, Ward has become a dedicated advocate for improved social acceptance for foreigners in Korea, especially mixed-race youth. He donated $1 million to create the Hines Ward Helping Hands Foundation, which helps mixed-race youth fight against discrimination in South Korea. In 2010, Ward was also appointed to President Obama's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In 2013, NAAAP recognIzed Hines Ward’s leadership and service with a NAAAP100 Award and a cover story on ALIST magazine, a NAAAP publication.
