We are thrilled here at SCFCS Venice to have established our inaugural National Honor Society Chapter this past spring of 2020. Our members have had the opportunity to engage in the community through the NHS primary principles of scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship and character. We are now planning to expand our SCFCS Venice NHS chapter to include juniors. This is a wonderful opportunity to continue and grow our chapter and create traditions to carry on for years. As the NHS advisor, I strongly encourage eligible juniors to apply to become a member. It is a pleasure to see our members participate in many volunteer activities in the community, such as, beach clean-up day, garden clean-up day and food bank distribution. The members give back to the community while earning required volunteer hours necessary for the Bright Futures Scholarship and boosting their resume for college applications. Students must complete an application, provide a personal recommendation and have a minimum GPA of 3.5.  Please see Mrs. Tosi if you have any questions.

I hope you are progressing well through your spring semester courses. Remember it is important to have a set schedule to allow plenty of time to study, complete homework and enjoy much-needed relaxation time each week. Maintaining a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise is essential to reduce stress. Lastly, don't forget to sleep. It is recommended for teens to get 9 to 91/2 hours of sleep a night according the attached article. How many hours of sleep are you averaging a night? Please read the article below about the importance of getting enough sleep as a teen.
