Do you know a Scouting leader who has gone above and beyond the call, especially in light of the difficult year which was 2020? As we discussed during our Virtual Roundtable earlier this month, the Pathfinder District Awards Committee is calling for submission of nominations for our 2021 Pathfinder District Awards!
From a single nomination form, you may nominate a candidate (or candidates) for any one of SEVEN special honors awarded by Pathfinder District:
- District Award of Merit: this award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the District level. A maximum of three Scouters will be recognized this year.
- Cubmaster of the Year: recognizing one outstanding Cubmaster each year for their dedication to the Scouts in the Scouting program, this individual is one who provides the best possible program for the Scouts in his or her Pack. There will be one recipient of this award annually.
- Scoutmaster of the Year: recognizing one outstanding Scoutmaster each year for their dedication to the Scouts in the Scouting program, this individual is one who provides the best possible program for the Scouts in his or her Troop. There will be one recipient of this award annually.
- Venturing / Sea Scout Leader of the Year: recognizing one outstanding Venturing or Sea Scout leader each year for their dedication to the Scouts in the Scouting program, this individual is one who provides the best possible program for the Scouts in his or her Crew or Ship. There will be one recipient of this award annually.
- Partners in Scouting Award: a unique award for a married couple involved in leadership positions in Scouting. There will be one recipient of this award annually.
- Pathway Award: each year we will recognize a local individual or organization who has gone above and beyond to support scouting. This award recognizes the support of our community to local scouting. There will be one recipient of this award annually.
- Guiding Light Award: awarded to volunteers who most exemplify Scouting Spirit in their actions and commitment to Scouting, this recipient works to make a difference. EACH UNIT (Pack, Troop, Crew or Ship) may award this distinction to one volunteer per year.
ANYONE may nominate a Scouter for any of the first six awards, whether a fellow Scouter / leader, a Scout, or a family member or friend of Scouting. For the Guiding Light Award, each Unit should submit one nominee for recognition.
The requirements for these awards are very simple:
- A nominee must be a registered Scouter.
- A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both. (Note: The nature and value of “noteworthy service to youth” may consist of a single plan or decisions that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth or it may have been given to a small group over an extended period of time.)
- Consideration must be given to the nominee’s Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting position.
- The nominee’s attitude toward and cooperation with the District and/or Council is to be taken into consideration.
- Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards.
Please consider who you know in your Scouting community who may be deserving of recognition of their efforts in supporting our Scouts, and nominate them for one of the award listed above. Nomination forms are available from the button below, and should be submitted to pathfinderawards@gmail.com no later than the end of the day on January 31st for consideration.
