Meet our Middle Ground Research Team!
Middle Ground is a translational research project from the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center at the Center on Education and Training for Employment at The Ohio State University. Our work is a collaborative effort of Dr. Eric M. Anderman, professor in the field of Educational Psychology at The Ohio State University, Dr. Brett Zyromski, assistant professor in the field of Counselor Education at The Ohio State University, and Dr. Barbara Boone at the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center. Our goal is to contribute new research and build professional training for school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to build their capacity for family engagement at the middle school level.
Learning Opportunity:
Reframing Family and Community Engagement Through Effective Communication
Presented with our partners,
How can we talk about family engagement so people understand why it matters, how it works, and what it can do? What stands between current public thinking and widespread adoption of family and community engagement as a core educational strategy? Better communication.
Please join us for a professional learning series of three, interactive sessions on reframing communication for family and community engagement. The series will equip you with new, evidence-informed communication strategies, will help you gain support for your family engagement programs and policies, and will increase your stakeholders’ understanding of the importance of reaching the families of all students. Registration is limited, and participants who attend all three sessions will receive a completion certificate.
When: There are three sessions in the series. Registrants commit to attend all three sessions on the following dates:
Session 1: Tuesday, February 9, 2021, 10:00 - 11:30 am ET
Session 2: Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 10:00 - 11:30 am ET
Session 3: Tuesday, February 23, 2021, 10:00 - 11:30 am ET
Families play critical roles in our education system. Supported by well-structured family engagement programs and strategic policies, the partnership between home, schools and their communities have the potential to advance equitable education and opportunities for all students.
