This program will be presented by the Community Health Centre for the Niagara Falls Public Library and will include a series of five interactive modules that help to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in all areas of our lives. Each module will focus on:

How to talk about mental health

Reducing stigma

Building resiliency

Taking care of yourself, the caregiver

Building social connections

Help Starts Here - Successfully navigating government and social services in a complex and complicated world can be a challenge.  Terri Bruce, Director of Programs at INCommunities -  which is the 211 service provider for Central South Ontario – will outline how 211 works by assessing your needs, then providing you with information on and referrals to the organizations that can best address your issue of concern. Terri will explain how 211 community navigators are trained, how they operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week and that you are always talking to a live person.  Having worked with INCommunities for 10 years, Terri has always had a passion for information, being informed and having answers. These traits drew her to the Information and Referral field where she currently leads a team of 10 staff.

How do I get an ebook?
The library has two digital platforms that customers can use to read ebooks or listen to audiobooks. Not all titles are repeated on both platforms but there is a great selection. Please look at our digital options by going to ebooks listed on the homepage of the website at my.nflibrary.ca. These are CloudLibrary and Hoopla. The video tutorials are very helpful, and you will need to download these apps to your favourite reading or listening device before you begin. Also, you must also have a valid Niagara Falls Public Library card. If you have any questions or would like some help with these, please call the library at 905-356-8080 and the staff can help you get started.

Let's Talk Turtles

Lets talk turtles. Freshwater turtles of Georgian Bay. The importance of reptiles and their lifecycles.
In partnership with our friends at the Oakville Senior Centre, this presentation is part of the TOAD talk community outreach program started by the Herpetological Society and will focus on the freshwater turtles of Georgian Bay, Ontario. Particularly focusing on the landscape and community ecology of Blanding's turtles, this talk will bring insight to help understand the importance of reptiles, their interesting life cycle, and various conservation plans to help their declining population. Join to learn all about turtles and how much fun it is to work with them.

- All-season tires versus winter or hybrid tires and the benefits of tire maintenance

- How to find out more about Ontario road conditions before you travel
