Volunteer for LAHCF
2021 will be a growth year for our Los Altos Hills Community Fiber organization. As with any growing community organization, we can use your volunteer help and expertise. Several volunteers are already contributing several hours every week for various LAHCF projects, builds and research. To support multiple builds happening at the same time this year, we will need more community volunteers. We are creating a resource list of volunteers to tap when needed. Here are some opportunities for those interested to assist our organization.
Tax Filing Assistance - For our California Mutual benefit corporation, we are looking for a volunteer to help us file our 2020 taxes.
Home Fiber Pullers - At times we need additional persons at various fiber vaults to monitor and assist in the pulling of community fiber.
Home installs and home networking optimization - Do you consider yourself a wi-fi expert or looking to assist other LAHCF members and neighbors in getting their network optimized for 1/10 gigabit/sec service?
If you are interested in volunteering for LAHCF in some capacity or wish to offer your services in a paid capacity, please send LAHCF a short email with your name, email, phone, and list of resources you wish to offer.

Hang on to your AT&T DSL accounts!
Hang on to your AT&T U-Verse or DSL accounts!
If you are thinking about switching from AT&T DSL to another provider like Comcast with the option to return to AT&T if Comcast does work out? Think again!
I have personally heard from several residents and there are nationwide articles about how AT&T will not re-install DSL services once they have been discontinued. They are not always offering an upgrade (U-Verse DSL or Fiber) when they will not re-install the DSL service you had before. If your DSL services are dropped from AT&T and you are left without any viable, affordable option in Los Altos Hills, we would like to know about it!
In situations where you are maybe selling a house or renting and wish to transfer the AT&T internet service to the new owner, it is best to do an account name change as the current customer rather than letting the account drop. AT&T has a plan to discontinue their legacy DSL systems. Real Estate agents and landlords should take notice that a new renter/new home-owner may find themselves begging AT&T to reconnect a service to an address.
