Last January, when we presented you with our accomplishments from 2019, we pledged that in 2020 we would elevate the links between racial justice and health equity; deepen our work with our communities of practice; and embed the pillars of wellbeing—including dignity and hope—more intentionally in our work. That commitment served us well in a year that was defined by political turmoil, a devastating global pandemic, and massive resistance to structural racism.
At the dawn of a new year, we are proud to present you with highlights of what we accomplished in 2020. Although the complex set of challenges felt unrelenting in many ways, they also underscored for us our core belief in the importance of thriving, equitable communities and renewed our commitment to fight for them.
We are so grateful to our many partners—including community members, community-based organizations, government agencies, foundations, and public health and health equity organizations—without whom these accomplishments would not have been possible.
